Wastewater Bulletins
and Tips Sewer Backups- Please
Call Us First If you experience problems with plugged
or slow moving drains please call the Buena Vista Sewer Department (989) 755-4819, before calling a drain cleaning
service. Our staff will visit your residence and determine if the problem is due to your plumbing or a plugged
sewer main. If the sewer main is plugged the sewer department will have the line cleaned. If the problem is in
your plumbing our staff will advise you to contact a drain cleaning service. By following this procedure residents
will avoid any unnecessary expenses.
Grease - A Sticky Problem Disposing of grease and cooking oil by
dumping it down the drain creates numerous problems for residents and the Township alike. Grease is best disposed
of by storing it in a container and after the container is full and cooled, depositing it in the trash. Grease
can melt piping and clog sewer lines creating big expenses for residents. When grease accumulates in sewer mains
backups often occur, making costly maintenance necessary. By keeping grease out of the sewer system we can minimize
costs to both our residents and the Township.
